Tending to Ourselves: Vicarious Trauma in the Counseling Profession Webinar (NBCC approved for 3 CE's)
Vicarious trauma is more often than not becoming a side effect of working in the mental health profession. It has been indicated that in the helping professionals group, between 40% and 85% develop vicarious trauma, compassion fatigue and/or high rates of traumatic symptoms. This training will describe compassion fatigue and vicarious trauma and identify the signs and symptoms. Assessment tools will be recognized and self care practices will be identified that can help mitigate the effects related to mental health professionals who work with PTSD and trauma.

Objectives:
Describe Vicarious Trauma
Identify signs and symptoms of vicarious trauma
Explain how trauma symptoms create disconnection
Identify at least 3 self care practices that support counselor mental health
Cost: $75 for 3 hours of training and 3 CEs

Trainer’s BIO:
Alice is a Licensed Marital and Family Therapist, an AAMFT approved supervisor, an EMDRIA approved Consultant of EMDR therapy and an EMDR trainer with PTI. Alice has been in the field of psychology and helping profession for 20 years working in residential mental health settings, community based agency settings, faith based counseling settings and in private practice. She has practiced counseling in this field for over 15 years and offered trainings on various topics related to trauma, EMDR, grief, trauma in children and adolescents, complex trauma, complex grief, and integrating a client’s christian beliefs into the counseling process. Alice is passionate about providing safe spaces for healing and has dedicated her work to integrating trauma informed care into everything she does including her trainings.
